I have been tinkering with various motion and object detection apps and analytics lately. I've tried quiet a few different things from open source apps to enhancements to a few lines of Python code. I used an old Android phone to generate a constant RTSP stream from my desk. The camera quality in the phone isn't great so it gives me the opportunity to test with varying light conditions, noise, and video artifacts. So far my motion detections have been working pretty well, but I occasionally get some false positives from lighting changes. I'm posting samples from the motion detections clips to a new page that I setup here. To save on bandwidth, I'm only posting a single frame from each 15 minute window. I update the EXIF data and watermark each frame before I mark them up. If I get some time, I might add in some markup based on object detections.
