Updating My Resume

I usually update my resume two or three times a year just so that I can keep it current with my latest role or my new skills. Unfortunately, I have not updated my resume in quite a while, and I have earned three certifications from Yugabyte since my last update. I also had to update a couple of social media contacts.

I also did something that I don't usually do. I took some time to review the job descriptions for some of my previous roles. Some of the descriptions did not really match or emphasize where I currently am in my career. My resume definitely needed a tune up so I took advantage of Gemini and ChatGPT to generate some descriptions. GenAI is all the rage these days so I feel that I am obligated to take advantage of the tools. I say that I used both of them because I actually regenerated sections using both and selected the update that I liked better. I have to admit that I did need several iterations of tinkering with the prompts to get something that I liked.

On a side note, I have used GenAI for blog images a couple of times now, and I have found that sometimes the generated images are better than recycling an image from one of the royalty-free photo sites.
